What Does Individual Health Insurance Mean To
You?
What is the
meaning of health insurance? What does health
insurance mean to you? Do you need health insurance when you
become very sick and need medical care? Do you need it when you
see a doctor for periodic checkups? Can you afford the monthly
premiums?
Only you
can answer these questions as your needs might be different
than another person. So you should think and plan accordingly.
Health insurance is a form of insurance that helps cover your
medical expenses when you become injured or sick, which the
expenses can be very expensive, especially if your injury (ies)
or illness(s) require surgery or intensive medical care, which
can be long and physically and mentally
troublesome.
You must be
thinking to yourself, "What if I don’t become injured" or "I do
not get sick regularly and I do not need health insurance?"
Those are good and valid points to make and your reasons are
well put, but what if you suddenly contract a deadly disease or
become severely injured in a car accident? How will you pay
your medical expenses then?
Worker’s comp does not pay
much to you (if eligible) and neither drawing unemployment
checks will not help much with your living and medical
expenses, so that is why you should have medical insurance,
even if it is a alternative healthcare plan, but at least you
can be covered by a health plan.
Yes, money
maybe tight in your household and you can not afford any extra
bills, but you cannot put a price on your health, as your state
of health determines your ability to work, even if you are
self-employed or between jobs.
If you are
self employed or full-time college students, the rules may to
you as well and you also have individual health insurance
coverage, because you might never know when a freak accident or
a severe illness may come up and change your life; possibly
forever, but before that happens, you should ask yourself,
"What does health insurance mean to
me?"
