Albuterol is used to inhibit and treat wheezing, difficulty breathing and chest stiffness caused by lung diseases such as asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD; a group of diseases that involve the lungs and airways).

Albuterol inhalation aerosol is also used to avoid breathing difficulties during exercise. Albuterol is in a class of medications called bronchodilators. It works by relaxing and opening air passages to the lungs to make breathing easier.

 

Albuterol Clinical Use:

Salbutamol is specifically indicated in the following conditions:

albuterolsymptom relief during maintenance therapy of asthma and other conditions with reversible airways obstruction (including COPD)

albuterolprotection against exercise-induced asthma

albuterolhyperkalaemia, especially in patients with renal stoppage
